LFTI Mission Statement
Living for Tomorrow, Inc.’s (LFTI) mission is to end recidivism… one woman at a time. We accomplish this by holistically providing women returning to our communities from incarceration with the tools, resources, and support needed to confidently create a new path for themselves. Our goal is to guide women through their reentry journey with dignity and purpose by meeting participants where they are at and providing wraparound services to combat the issues that led to justice involvement. LFTI aims to equip participants with resources such as education, workforce development and job readiness, substance use and mental health recovery(if needed), family reunification, and self-sufficiency.
We at LFTI believe rehabilitation doesn’t just happen when one woman. It happens when entire communities take accountability and help women in reentry regain the confidence they need to become better mothers, daughters, friends, and leaders. We aim to do just that by providing trauma informed, culturally responsive programming that facilitates restoration, family unification, and long-term stability.
While our main focus is serving women in reentry, LFTI also places great emphasis on stopping the cycle of incarceration before it even starts. Our youth diversion program, The Rise Above Initiative: Guiding Today’s Youth Toward Tomorrow’s Peace, serves area youth who have had juvenile justice involvement and/or are at risk of justice involvement due to behavioral issues. Through one-on-one mentorship, life-skills, restorative practices, and fun activities we aim to provide positive alternatives to incarceration. We work to equip the youth we serve with the skills to become accountable for their actions and learn from their mistakes. We encourage resiliency and hope that through our program, participants can realize their true potential and aim for education, not incarceration.
